What is the history of Martin Luther and the Reformation?

There are some teachers today that claim they are "Trinitarians" but they say that the Lord Jesus came into existence at the incarnation. They counter scripture that says that Christ is the "beginning and end" by saying that prior to the Incarnation, He existed as a thought in God's mind. Pastor Broggi gives scriptural references where this "teaching" is refuted?

A group has split from this caller's church to target the 18 - 40 age group. Is this a proper thing to do?

It’s hard raising children with all the immoral influences that seem so prevalent today. Would Audrey suggest Christian counselling and how should the mom take control of this situation?

What does Pastor Broggi think of the church that recently ordained a former child molester. Some say he was converted and totally changed. Could such a person be a pastor.

An art appraiser handles many objects that may have a religious symbolism that is very contrary to the Christian belief and she even owns some rugs that she now knows have a message that may be contray to being a Christian. Her question is, when she handles these objects to perform her appraisal, and the fact that she owns some of these rugs, is she giving the enemy any kind of stronghold with her or her home?

After the flood, did the Garden of Eden still exist?

A caller became a Christian after her kids were born. She has since prevented her child from watching Pok-e-Mon and Harry Potter movies. The child objected and has actually gone behind her back to watch these movies. Now the mom is actually wondering if there really is anything wrong with these types of entertainment.

When Mary and Joseph were visited prior to Jesus’ birth, the angel told both of them to name their child Emmanuel. A caller wants to know why we call the Lord, Jesus instead of Emmanuel.

In Proverbs 16:7 it says “When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him”. A caller would like to know if this is considered a promise or a principle and does Pastor Broggi know other Scripture that that says what this Scripture says and/or does he have a message on principles vs. promise?

What is a good book on the anti-Christ.

In recent times, there have been a lot of “fallen pastors/church leaders” that we hear about. What Scripture or advice would Pastor Broggi give to new Christians who’ve had the experience of being led to the Lord by someone in the pulpit or a trusted church leader, who is later exposed or confesses publicly to having sinned in a way that would not allow them to continue in their capacity as a church leader?

In caves, they have found drawings of horses and other animals. Does Pastor Carl have any knowledge of any drawings of dinosaurs found in caves?

In Genesis 3 did the Serpent have a choice of Satan using him for evil?

Our first caller wants to know that when Jonah went to Nineva and preached to the Ninevites, did they get saved of did they just fast so the Lord didn’t judge them again?

A caller has had family and friends come up with ideas that are not scriptural. One family member told this listener she should pray the ‘Hail Mary’ for a relative that is dying - This caller wants to be righteous and wants to share the hope she has within her but with gentleness and reverence. She is worried that these relatives might be trying to bait her.

A student of the Bible is having difficulty reconciling the issue of predestination versus free will. They have read passages such as Rom. 8:29-30, 1 Pet. 1:2 and Eph. 1:4-6, but they are getting confused. They wish to know whether we are pre-selected by God to be offered a chance of salvation or is scripture indicating that the ‘preselected’ are a select group such as Israel or the disciples…and the rest are left to freely choose whether to believe and receive salvation with an open heart when it is presented.

A caller wanted to know if at the end of the service, Pastor Broggi would encourage people to come forward and pray at the altar for a burden they may be having that they’re not ready to share with the pastor, elders and in public yet.

A listener writes “I have been struggling with doubt for a long time. I remember praying with my mom at age 7 and asking God to save me. Growing up I have had a desire for the things of the Lord, and still do. But over the years I have felt defeated in my spiritual walk and have not always been fully committed. I know that God cannot lie and that when we call upon Him in faith we will be saved. So if I did that as a child why am I questioning my salvation now? Am I just failing to take God at His word or might there be a valid reason for me to question my spiritual condition?

A caller would like to know when Pastor Broggi starts off with 2 Timothy 2:15, is there a reason he leaves off “approved to God”?

A caller wants to know more about how Jesus was a priest from the order of Melchizedek.

A listener has a question about Elihu in the book of Job. As a teen this listener’s bible teacher taught her that Elihu was a bad counselor. The listener wants to know whether this was a correct assessment on the part of her bible teacher.

<itunes:summary>Our first caller wants to know that when Jonah went to Nineva and preached to the Ninevites, did they get saved of did they just fast so the Lord didn't judge them again?

A caller has had family and friends come up with ideas that are not scriptural. One family member told this listener she should pray the 'Hail Mary' for a relative that is dying - This caller wants to be righteous and wants to share the hope she has within her but with gentleness and reverence. She is worried that these relatives might be trying to bait her.

A student of the Bible is having difficulty reconciling the issue of predestination versus free will. They have read passages such as Rom. 8:29-30, 1 Pet. 1:2 and Eph. 1:4-6, but they are getting confused. They wish to know whether we are pre-selected by God to be offered a chance of salvation or is scripture indicating that the 'preselected' are a select group such as Israel or the disciples...and the rest are left to freely choose whether to believe and receive salvation with an open heart when it is presented.

A caller wanted to know if at the end of the service, Pastor Broggi would encourage people to come forward and pray at the altar for a burden they may be having that they're not ready to share with the pastor, elders and in public yet.

A listener writes "I have been struggling with doubt for a long time.

Our next caller would like Pastor Broggi to explain "systematic theology" as found in books by Lewis Sperry Chafer and others and is there any benefit to this "theology"?

A caller would like to know when Pastor Broggi starts off with 2 Timothy 2:15, is there a reason he leaves off "approved to God"?

A caller has a family member who is Catholic and has asked other family members (who are now born again) to pray three Hail Marys for him. The caller is concerned about this.

What is the description of a body that goes to heaven and one that goes to hell?

A listener in Texas was originally taught the ten commandments as a youth in catholic sunday school. They list #9 as “do not covet your neighbors goods” and #10 as “do not covet your neighbors wife”. Then as an adult I heard that these are really just one commandment and are the real #10, but that the catholics leave out the real #2 which is “do not make for yourselves an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above…” and then make up for it by splitting #10 into two commandments. What about people who have paintings and ceramic statues of angels in their house for decorations? What about paintings of Jesus like the one where His coat of many colors is made of all the flags of the world?

A listener injured himself and a charismatic friend is criticizing him for not praying for a “healing miracle” The caller also is avoiding pain killers because he is concerned about the fact that pharmacoea may have some association with sorcery.

A father wants to know what the Scripture says about dating and kissing before marriage. This Christian man has a 13 1/2 year old daughter (who has professed Christ) and he can tell that she’s getting interested in boys, dating and maybe even kissing a boy. Also, does Pastor Broggi or Audrey have a message/series on this subject?

A listener in Pensacola is attending an Independent Baptist church that uses a book entitled “Simple Church” by Rainer and Geiger as a guide. The book’s authors believe that program driven churches these days are too worker intensive and thus recommend some programs be dropped. This listener’s very church has dropped Awana and come January they plan to cease Sunday School classes. The book bases this move from Acts 2 and is pushing small group meetings. Although the listener likes small groups they have been convicted about this because they believe some programs have been quite helpful. They are looking for Pastor Broggi’s thoughts on this.

A listener heard about “Documentary Hypothesis” from a pastor. This pastor thinks Moses did not write the first 5 books of the bible…however, this caller discovered in John 5:46 that Jesus did affirm Mosaic authorship. Where do pastors like this get their information?

A family member is taking care of a disabled relative in their home. The dependent has been physically and mentally disabled from childhood, but was able to work for a number of years until having to retire early on social security disability and also receives a small pension. The dependent is not able to manage their health conditions or finances due to mental disability. The caregiver is using the dependent’s income to pay for the dependent’s living expenses such as medications, food, fair rent, gas, etc. The caregiver also takes into consideration compensation for their time and lifestyle adjustments. If things were calculated based on fair market value, I’m not sure that the income would even cover the above expenses. Should the caregiver tithe the disabled person’s income or a portion of it in some way on behalf of the disabled person? If so, how would one go about figuring this out?

Another listener wants to know Pastor Broggi’s opinion on the Lordship vs free grace salvation debate. The listener attends a church that teaches simply praying about a matter and then being done with it. The caller wonders about this.

A participant in this listener’s Bible study says he believes Jesus is not omnipresent, because he took on the human body. He believes in the trinity and that God the Father and the Holy Spirit are everywere. He seems to think that there is scripture to prove this. I have asked him to show it to me. I have told him that the members of the trinity all have the same attributes, as they are one. Scripture says that God gave Jesus a new body, as we will get at the time of our death or rapture. How would Pastor Broggi explain this.

A question keeps coming to my mind concerning all the children murdered before they reached the age of accountability. The Nazis murdered over 1 million children in World War II, and the American Abortionists have killed over 49 million children in the United States since 1973. Many times more have been murdered throughout the history of the world. My assumption is that right now there are more souls in Heaven because they were Christians than because they were murdered as children. What if God decides to end the world when the number of murdered children in Heaven exceeds the number of Christians in Heaven? Does the bible say anything about this?

1 cor. 15:29 - What is Pastor Broggi’s feelings about being baptized for the dead?

The caller has heard of congregations (particularly in Africa) where congregants stand up in a service if they have an accusation against the pastor…they argue this position from 1st Timothy 3. Is this appropriate?

The caller wants to know whether there is anything in the bible that says that we are near the rapture now? And should we have an attitude of apathy regarding evangelization?

A caller would like to know how Psalm 89:26-27 relates to Jesus?

Regarding Proverbs 18:21…some teachers use this passage to claim that our words can bring about situations. What does Pastor Broggi think about confession theology?

Another caller asks: In the U.S. and world in general, there are terrible things that are taking place as everyday situations, i.e. abortion, sinful lifestyles, etc., yet we are called to pray for those in authority in 1 Timothy. How do Christians pray for these leaders as we’re commanded to when, if we are to be really honest, we have to check ourselves from being angry at them?

Our next caller from Savannah understands about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but she’d like to know what body, soul and spirit means as it relates to the human body.

<itunes:summary>A question keeps coming to my mind concerning all the children murdered before they reached the age of accountability.

1 cor. 15:29 - What is Pastor Broggi's feelings about being baptized for the dead?

The caller has heard of congregations (particularly in Africa) where congregants stand up in a service if they have an accusation against the pastor...they argue this position from 1st Timothy 3. Is this appropriate?

The caller wants to know whether there is anything in the bible that says that we are near the rapture now? And should we have an attitude of apathy regarding evangelization?

A caller would like to know how Psalm 89:26-27 relates to Jesus?

Regarding Proverbs 18:21...some teachers use this passage to claim that our words can bring about situations. What does Pastor Broggi think about confession theology?

My family and I have been spending our time at CBC and another church, where our 4 year old will attend preschool next year. Up until recently, we have always given 10% of our gross income to whatever church we belonged to. I have debated this with a couple of trusted Christian friends who say that was an Old Testament law and that while we are called to give, there is no specifc requirement given by Jesus and that what you give is to be thoroughly sought out and taken to God in prayer. I was accused of splitting hairs because lately we have had such a dip in our income that we, for the first time, thought maybe we were supposed to reevaluate. I have always put our tithe as a line item in our budgeting…and it was done. But when we started coming up short and it was either tithe ro pay a bill…the obvious answer, to me, was to tithe and wait for God to provide for the bill..but my friends arguments were so compelling that I have to research. Can you tell me what CBC’s stance on this is or can you provide some references? I have tried to find them on my own, but am coming up empty.

My friend asked me if the Harper Collins Study Bible, New Revised Standard Version, was a good study bible. I’m not familiar with study bibles or the New Revised Standard Version. What is your assessment of this study bible? When I looked up this study bible online I saw that some versions include Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books. I’m not sure if my friend’s version includes these books, but it is my understanding that these books are not part of the bible. Which biles do you recommend? Are some better for new students than others?

Our next caller has an interesting question: If a Christian marries someone but it turns out that the person they married had lied to them and misrepresented themselves (i.e. perhaps their previous marital status for example), is that Christian bound to that marriage?

A caller had a question regarding some systematic theology books.

Another question about marriage. If 2 non-Christians are married and they divorce, but then one of them becomes a Christian and marries another Christian, is it okay for them to marry?

In Luke 23:43 Jesus told one of the men on the cross, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise” but He wasn’t raised from the dead for 3 days, so could Pastor Broggi please explain this?

In Titus 1:6 we are given the qualifications of elders. For the sake of argument, if a pastor is not married but he has many different dating relationships with woman (not even necessarily ones that would compromise his morality), is this pastor in violation of Scripture? We obviously know what the answer is if he’s married, but what if he’s not?

If Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin, didn’t he have to be married? Is it possible he was a widower?

A caller refers to Lev. 25:8 through about 23. They were discussing this in their Sunday school class and want to know if the Year of Jubilee ever took place?

Another caller has a question from their Sunday schoold class. They want to know if Jesus ever got sick and is there always a connection between sin and sickness?

Since Jesus came and formed a new covenant with the Jews and the gentiles, is circumcision still required of the Jews?

Why did Jesus spend three days and nights in the earth?

A caller wanted more information on a prayer list Pastor Broggi mentioned in a message one Sunday morning.

A caller is very interested to hear Pastor Carl’s response to the following quote taken
from “Israel My Glory”, May/June 2009 issue about the Millennium Kingdom.
“Both Jewish and Gentiles will be required to sacrifice animals at the
Temple (Isa 56:7; 66:20-23; Jer. 33:18; Ezek. 45:13-17; Mal. 3:3-4). The
Lord will appoint a prince to receive the gifts and oversee the sacrifices
used “to make atonement” for the house of Israel (Ez 45:15-17, 20).
Presented will be burnt, sin, trespass (40:39), grain (45:24), and peace
offerings (46:2). Animal sacrifices at the future Temple will not be
efficacious, but they will be needed to cover the worshipers’ ceremonial
uncleanness. Why? Because God will be dwelling of Earth in the midst of
sinful people who live in their natural bodies. The sacrifices will ensure
that impure people will not defile God’s holy Temple when coming to worship
Him.” End quote. I believe it requires mental gymnastics in explaining
the purpose of the sacrifices.
John MacArthur teaches the same thing in his Study Bible. This seems
to go against everything Paul taught, especially Heb. 9 & 10.
This teaching also requires GENTILES to sacrifice in Millennium…..?
The listener has been studying eschatology on my own for quite awhile now and wants Pastor Carl’s input on this.

Another caller wants to know whether there is a distinction between the gospel for the Jew and the gospel for the gentile.

Our next caller wants to know where believers who have already died will be during the millenial reign and what will they be doing.

The friend of a listener informed him that he and his fiancee are going to buy a house several months before they get married. They are both cosigning for it. One of the main rationales behind this idea is to stop wasting money on rent and to take advantage of a good deal on a house. In this situation the woman makes the significant majority of the income and would be shouldering the majority of the financial responsibility.
This caller’s understanding is that the bible says not to cosign for someone else. It is also my understanding that the bible says that a man who cannot provide for his family is worse than a pagan. The caller wants to know Pastor Carl’s advice would be to a man who is considering doing this?

In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter asked how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Jesus answered, we’re to forgive not seven times but seventy-seven times. A listener understands this but wants to know what to dowhen you are a family of Christians, yet one family member always has the family in turmoil because they constantly criticize one family member to another and will not stop even when asked to do so. Is it scriptural to love a brother, but not want to see them?

In light of recent revelations of adultery by SC Governor Mark Sanford, what
does the Bible say about whether or not he should resign his position and
what his responsibility is to his constituents?

In light of what happened with Gov. Sanford, what do Christians say to the nay sayers who are now using this situation to demonstrate the hypocrisy of Christians and their family values stand.

How can an internet listener give to CBC of Beaufort missions? Can you explain how a christian is to give to missions? Does one give to a general missions fund? Is it wise for the giver to specify foreign missions, home missions, specific countries, or specific missionaries? Is there a distinction between foreign missions and home missions? How does CBC of Beaufort determine how to distribute the funds among the missions?

Our next caller would like to know if their spouse has been involved in fornication, according to 1 Cor. 7, is this a cause for divorce?

I have a question about Christians participating in boycotts of non-christian companies that support non-christian principles. I had recently commented to a friend that the PepsiCo boycott I have been participating in has been especially hard since they own so many products that I enjoy.
This was her response (quoted from her email to me):
“I really struggle with the whole idea of Christians boycotting non-christian companies. Today, I found a scripture that I think addresses it:
“I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” (1 Corinthians 5:9–13, ESV)
I was thinking of scripture when Jesus was ridiculed for eating with tax collectors and “sinners”. If Pepsi-Co or any other company claimed to follow Christ in their beliefs and yet supported certain agendas, heinous sinful practices, etc.. I would most certainly boycott them. However, I can’t see the benefit of requiring those in the world to clean up their act morally when it would be to no avail, since it isn’t “good behavior” that wins them favor with God. In fact it would simply be: “having a form of godliness but denying the power of God.”
Being “tent builders” alongside those in the world… rubbing elbows with them… gives us an opportunity to display the gospel.. “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” I do realize money that we use to purchase a Pepsi, some of that profit may go to supporting “gay rights.” But every time we pay our taxes we support a gov’t that funds abortions. “Give to Caesar what is Caeser’s..” and spread the glory of the cross to a world in need.”
(end quote)
While I do not simply boycott every company that does something “bad”, I do find it hard to support any company that so blatantly supports such anti-christian values as the gay rights movement and abortion. I guess being honest, I have held the opinion that all Christians should hold the same view/principle. Could you please tell me your thoughts on this issue??

Our next caller who is a Christian woman says she has a woman friend who is attending a church where she has a leadership role and exercises authority over men. The caller has had discussions with this other woman and explains what the Scripture says about this. Her friend has made no changes (i.e. has not given up this authority position), so the caller would like to know how or does she continue with this friendship?

One listener would like to know Pastor Broggi’ position on Calvinism.

A listener would like to get some insight into Genesis 10 - regarding the curse of Canaan.

I heard Tony Evans on the radio talking about how christians can have demons and if a demon goes out of one christian it can go into another christian. I took this to be true, but when I tried to find find it in the NASB on Biblegateway.com by searching for the words, ‘demon’, ‘unclean spirit’, and ‘evil spirit’, I could not find it. Can you tell me what the bible teaches on this idea, and what some of the key verses are?

Our next caller says that a doctor known for performing late-term abortions was recently murdered. This murder is, of course, reprehensible and the antithesis of what Christians believe; but it has raised a question. Does Pastor Broggi know of any situations where the health of the mother has been used as the reason for either late-term or mid-term abortion?

A listener wants to know if Christians need only invoke the name of Christ to deal with demonic spirits.

Another listener wants to know how it is some people believe they can lose their salvation.

Our next caller says that he and his wife were divorced. The wife married another man soon after the divorce and then she was killed in an accident. This man wants to know if Scripture says he can now be free to marry again.

A listener would like to know a good Bible commentary.

Should a baby from two parent who are not married but livinhg together be allowed to bless the baby in front ofr the congregation?

Caller wants to know Pastor Broggi’s opinion of Rick Joyner and Morningstar ministries.

John from Beaufort would like to know what the Bible says about tatooing and piercings and what is the best way to address a believer who wants to get one or the other?

A caller wants to know how we are to confront gossip in a church in a loving and kind way.

A listener keeps debating with a 7th day Adventist about the rapture and theSaturday sabbath. THy have good scriptures to prove that God never changed it to Sunday, whch the listener thinks is correct on their part…but the listener believes no person can keep the law and that we are not under the law. The 7th Day Adventist friend says it makes no sense to keep 9 commandments and cancel one. The listener wants to know what Pastor Broggi teaches on this issue.

A listener wants to know whether Ezekiel 3:17-18 applies to witnessing today.

Our next caller said that she was reading a publication and it said that scientists can justify the fact that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago in the following way: between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 there was a gap in time and then God reformed the earth and that was the period of time where the angels fell and the dinosaurs lived and died. How would Pastor Broggi answer the man who wrote this publication.

A caller would like to know if washing each others feet is for today and, if so, how do you do it within a large congregation?
